Hay on Wye

Sunday 2 August 2015

On Sunday 2 August I joined other members of The 1879 Group in the town of Hay on Wye.

This was to Commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Hay Territorials leaving to fight in The Great War.

Members of the 1879 group met up in a car park just outside the town centre.

We then marched behind a pipe band into the town square, led by the regimental colours.

The 1879 Group are the only re-enactment group entitled to carry the official colour of any battalion in the UK.  We carry the colours of the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot - later becoming known as the South Wales Borderers.

After marching into the town we attended a commemoration ceremony held in the town square.
